I know what you’re thinking, wedding season is over, but my event calendar begs to differ. As a 20-something and beyond, the struggle of what to wear to a wedding grows as the weather gets colder. The questions loom- what’s appropriate? Can I wear sleeveless in the winter? Is this dress too short? Is this dress too long? Has anyone seen me in this before? All valuable questions. But fear not my dear friends, the answer is simple and it’s only three words- little. black. dress.
Now there are innumerable varieties of the little black dress (and half of them hang in my closet). But my current favorite is classy, sassy, and full of some fantastic fringe. Two of my dearest friends were married this weekend and I pulled out this little number for the special occasion. A black, sleeveless, high-neck shift dress with a fabulous fringe hem.
To accessorize this classic piece I went a little Jay-Z and opted for all black everything. Small black purse, black suede pumps (with the cutest tassel detail) and even a black wool topcoat. With the perfect details this ensemble didn’t even require excessive jewelry (just a small pair of drop earrings and you’re good to go).
So next time you look at the rack and think, well everyone else will be wearing black, remember- if you make it your own, you’ll still stand out! And always remember- the classics never go out of style!
